Comments: Takes over from the old DGL-4300 adding D-Link's "Xtreme N" (draft 802.11n wireless) and a neat LCD panel on the top displaying network activity.
The USB port on the back can be used for a USB flash drive to transfer XP's WCN (Windows Connect Now) wireless security settings or as a print server using D-Link's Shareport technology.

Comments: One of the most innovative products I've seen for a long time with its unique LCD screen and upright design. The LCD screen has a touch pad and can be configured to display router, network and hard drive status, time and date, photos stored on any attached hard drives, RSS content such as weather & news feeds and it can even stream video.

Inside is space to accept a 2.5" SATA drive to use as network storage. I couldn't find a list of supported hard drives on D-Link's website so I recommend contacting them for confirmation before forking out for a hard drive to find it doesn't work. However, the DIR-685 router is available from D-Link with an optional 160GB or 250GB hard drive. (Click here for price & availability from my online shop)

Two USB ports are included on the back which can be used for WCN, USB external drives & thumb drives, printers*, scanners and even a 3G modem**. As with the hard drives though, D-Link do not mention a compatibility list for the printers & scanners so best to call them to confirm before buying. However, I would expect that the compatibility list for the DPR-1260 would be a reasonable rule of thumb.

* Print server function uses D-Link Shareport software

** Warning!: D-Link's product specs only list support for their own DWM-152 and DWM-156 3G modems. At the time of writing neither of these were listed with any of my D-Link distributors and I haven't heard of any local 3G ISPs handing them out either so I would assume that this product does not support 3G in Australia at this stage.

Dual band (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz frequencies) allows for faster wireless streaming suitable for HD video and is also backwards compatible with standard 802.11n or 11g as well as 802.11a. Comments: Slipping in between the cheaper 11G wireless DSL-2642B and the more expensive 11N wireless DSL-2740B, the wireless 150 2730B promises half the speed of true 11N wireless but a bit more than 11G.

Comments: Similar to the DIR-635 with "RangeBooster N" (802.11n wireless) but with a built-in ADSL modem.
Note: The original version had 3 external antennas but Rev. C onwards uses internal antennas.

Comments: An 802.11g wireless modem with 2 FXS ports to allow 2 VoIP lines and an FXO port for failover to a normal phone line. Some stiff competition in this category with similar spec'd and priced products from Billion, Netgear & Netcomm but the DVA-G3670B is the only one with a USB print server.
