Products: Linksys AM300 Single port Ethernet or USB ADSL modem
Comments: A basic modem with no internet sharing or security features. It can be connected to a PC either by USB or Ethernet or plugged into another router such as a dual WAN router or perhaps to take advantage of a feature like 802.11n wireless where the perfect all-in-one product might not exist. Warning!: At the time of writing (10/12/07) these have issues with TPG. Click here for more info. Linksys AG300 4 Port ADSL modem with Firewall
Comments: A 4 port modem with SPI Firewall and 5 built-in IPSec VPN tunnels. Linksys WAG160N 4 Port 802.11n Wireless ADSL Modem/Router
Comments: A slightly simplified and cheaper version of the WAG325N. While some people report no probems with this one, I hear so many reports of poor wireless performance I can't recommend it. The equivalent routers (WRT series) are fine. It just seems when used with a modem chip (WAG series) they run into troubles. Linksys WRT54GL 4 Port 802.11G Wireless Router
Comments: The WRT54GL is identical to the old WRT54G V4 and has been released for those people interested in creating and installing hacked firmware now that it is no longer possible with the more recent WRT54G V5 & above. Linksys WRT120N 4 Port 802.11n Wireless 150 Router
Comments: Smaller brother to the WRT160N. While it isn't mentioned on the spec sheet, this router actually uses the cut down "wireless 150" 11n standard which only operates at half the usual 802.11n speeds. More discussion on this here. Linksys WRT160N 4 Port 802.11n Wireless Router
Comments: Superceding the WRT150N with a new sleek design with internal antennas. A great feature set for the price. Linksys WRT320N 4 Port Dual Band 802.11n Wireless Router with gigaswitch
Comments: Similar to the WRT310N but with dual band 802.11n wireless which works in both the 2.4gHz and 5gHz radio bands. This should* make for faster wireless data speeds when used with dual band wireless adapters such as the Linksys WUSB600N but it also allows for backwards compatibility with 802.11a & g devices. Note: Linksys seem to go to pains to avoid any mention of channel bonding or using both frequencies at the same time in their specifications with comments such as "Your wireless connections are radio band selectable to avoid interference in your area" so that may not be a capability of this product. Linksys WRT610N 4 Port dual band 802.11n Wireless Router with gigaswitch
Comments: Dual band allows the use of two simultaneous radio bands to double the available bandwidth on the wireless network and is also backwards compatible with 802.11a, b & g wireless products. There's also a USB port on the back to connect a USB hard drive for instant network attached storage. |
