Netgear DM111P 1 Port ADSL Modem
Comments: The DM111P is a basic modem without the ability to share the Internet to multiple PCs (NAT) like a Router does. It can be configured as either a full bridge or half bridge (where it enters your ISP username & password). Perfect to plug into a separate Router, it's an ideal product for people with more advanced Router needs such as multiple VPN Routers like Snapgears or more advanced wireless products such as MIMO where an all-in-one modem/router isn't available or isn't desired. Netgear DG834 4 Port ADSL Modem/Router with SPI Firewall
Comments: 4 Port Router with Built-in ADSL modem with support for all the usual ADSL connection types like PPPoE, PPPoA, Bridged IP, IPOA etc.
An upgrade of the older DG814 to include an SPI Firewall. Netgear DG834G 4 Port 802.11G Wireless ADSL Modem/Router
Comments: 802.11G version of the DG824M. 802.11G allows data speeds of up to 54mbs as opposed to 802.11B's 11mbs. (The fastest ADSL plans are 1.5mbs, so the extra speed mainly comes in handy for transferring files between PCs or Network database access situations)
The DG834G is the one to go for for those people that want something easy to use without spending a fortune. It has great security features without being overly complicated and will suit the average home or small business user that mainly uses the Internet for general purposes like Web browsing & email. Netgear have a great interactive guide on setting up Wireless Security here. Netgear DG834GV 4 Port 802.11G Wireless ADSL Modem/Router with VoIP
Comments: An all-in-one product with built-in ADSL modem and VoIP capability to suit the home or small office user looking to add VoIP in a cost effective manner. Some stiff competition from Billion & Draytek in this niche already. Netgear DGN1000 4 Port 802.11n Wireless 150 ADSL Modem/Router
Comments: A basic, easy to use Wireless 150 802.11n ADSL modem from Netgear. Note: Wireless 150 basically works at half the speed of normal 802.11n wireless products. For more information about Wireless 150 see Wireless FAQ 1.13. Netgear DGN2000 4 Port 802.11n (Rangemax Wireless-N) Wireless Router with built-in ADSL modem + SPI
Comments: Replacement for the DG834N with a shorter warranty and some more user-friendly features such as push button wireless security and the ability to turn off the wireless broadcast at the push of a button as well. For best results use with RangeMax Wireless-N Adapters (WN511B, WN311B, WN111). Netgear DGN3500 4 Port 802.11n (Rangemax Wireless-N) Wireless Router with gigaswitch and built-in ADSL modem
Comments: An upgraded version of the DG834PN with a 4 port gigaswitch instead of 10/100 allowing for faster data speeds between cabled PCs plugged into it For best results use with RangeMax Wireless-N Adapters (WN111 or WNDA3100). Netgear DGND3300 4 Port dual band 802.11n (Rangemax Wireless-N) Wireless Router with built-in ADSL modem
Comments: A straight forward ADSL modem from Netgear with easy to use security features and dual band 802.11n wireless which allows for faster data streaming and compatibility with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz products. Also featured is a USB port to allow connection of a USB hardrive for cheap network attached storage. For best wireless results use the WNDA3100 USB adapter but it will work with plain 802.11n adapters (with single band perfomance) and is also backwards compatible with 802.11g and 802.11a products. Netgear RP614 4 Port Router
Comments: Good as Gold! Note:V2 of these adds an SPI Firewall. There shouldn't be any V1s around any more but check with your retailer to be on the safe side if you're concerned. Netgear FVS318 8 Port Router with Firewall & VPN Endpoints
Comments: Replaces the RO318, FR318 & FV318 by including their features but at a greatly reduced price. VPN feature is IPSec based and is somewhat complicated to setup, requiring an Internet Connection with a Static IP address (at least on the Server end) and a minimum of Windows 2000 behind it to allow for the setup of the necessary security policy. Netgear FVS318G 8 Port gigabit Router with Firewall & VPN Endpoints
Comments: Gibabit version of the FVS318 with multiple VPN pass-through (for software VPNs), QoS, syslog and SNMP support . Netgear FVS338 8 Port Router with Firewall, VPN Endpoints & Dialup/ISDN failover + Client software
Comments: Similar to the FVS328 (recently discontinued) but includes a single license of Netgear's Prosafe VPN client software and more processing power amongst other things. (Main differences tabled below.)
Netgear FVS336G Dual WAN with 4 port gigaswitch SSL VPN Router
Comments: Dual WAN and a 4 port gigaswitch with 10 SSL and 25 IPSec VPN endpoints built-in. Netgear FVX538 8 Port Dual WAN Router with Firewall & VPN Endpoints
Comments: Netgear's latest flagship introduces dual broadband*, the ability to handle up to 200 IPSec VPN clients, QoS, 8 LAN Ports, a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Port, multi-NAT capability (for people with a block of public IP addresses), and a 5 user license for Netgear's Pro-Safe VPN client software, and it's all in a rack mountable case. Wow! * Dual Broadband can be setup either to use one Internet connection exclusively and just fail over to the second one if the main one drops out, or to load share and balance usage more or less equally between the networked computers. Note: You can't double your speed as such but load sharing allows more bandwidth to be available for more users so the overall effect is that each person on the Network should get better speeds, but never individually faster than the fastest Broadband connection. Netgear MBR624GU 802.11g Wireless 4 Port 3G Router
Comments: A basic 4 port wireless router with the ability to accept USB 3G modems*. *Click here to view the supported modem list. Lots of reports of dropouts and poor performance with this one so I can't recommend it.
Netgear WGR614 4 Port 802.11G Wireless Router
Comments: Similar to the MR814 but with the new 802.11G technology which allows Wireless data speeds (still in the 2.4 gHz range) up to 5 times faster than existing technology with much the same performance and only slightly higher pricing. Click here to test drive the configuration menus. Netgear have a great interactive guide on setting up Wireless Security here. Netgear WGR614L 4 Port Open Source 802.11G Wireless Router

Comments: A basic 802.11n wireless router using Netgear's RangeMax 150 technology which is a cheaper version of 802.11n wireless promising speeds of up to 150mbs when used with 802.11n wireless adapters such as Netgear's RangeMax Wireless-N Adapters (WN511B, WN311B, WN111). Netgear WNR2000 4 Port 802.11N Wireless Router
Comments: A cheap and cheerful 802.11n wireless router. Netgear WNDR3300 4 Port 802.11n (Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N) MIMO wireless Router
Comments: Using the same internal antenna design as the WPN824 the WNDR3300 adds Netgear's dual band Wireless-N technology which operates in either the standard 2.4GHz frequency range or the 5GHz range and is backwards compatible with both 802.11g and 802.11a products. The 5GHz band has an advantage in areas where there might be interterence from other 2.4GHz devices. However, there's so may reports of poor wireless performance with this one I recommend giving it a miss and spending the extra $25 or so and get the WNDR3700 instead. For best wireless results use with the WNDA3100 Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter. Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit 802.11n (Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N) MIMO wireless Router with USB storage

Comments: An open source version of the WNR3500 capable of accepting DD-WRT & Tomato Firmware. See myopenrouter.com for more. Netgear SRX5308 ProSafe Quad WAN Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall
Comments: Netgear's flagship ProSafe router with 4 Gigabit WAN ports, 4 Gigabit LAN ports, bandwidth throttling, 125 IPSec endpoints, 50 SSL VPNs and support for up to 254 VLANs. Netgear SRXN3205 Rangemax Wireless-N Prosafe SSL VPN Router
Comments: With a built-in 4 port giga switch and 802.11n wireless, the SRXN3205 would already seem to have the best of everything but also inlcuded is 5 built-in IPSec VPN endpoints and 5 SSL VPN endpoints. The groovy thing about SSL VPNs is they don't need a special VPN client. They work using a web browser. However, also included is a single VPN client to make things easy if you prefer the IPSec VPNs. Additional licenses are available in the VPN01L and VPN05L (5 user pack) |
